MLB Plays & Stats from CheatSheetPros!
PITCHERS TO CONSIDER: EARLY SLATE
Gerrit Cole (11,900) – Cole is the only pitcher above $10k on the early slate and he is well above the $10k price tag. He has a solid floor and you can mix and match with any other pitcher. He is fire at home – his recent home starts: 38 points, 35 points and 34 points.
JACK FLAHERTY (9,400) – I don’t mind him as a GPP play. His road stats are awful but he has been turning a corner. @ LAD isn’t a great matchup but hoping that his ownership will be down due to that. He just faced CHC and HOU and went 36 and 25 DK points with 9 Ks in both starts (but they were at home). His last two road starts he did 18 @ CIN and 24 @ SFG. Great BVP numbers vs. LAD as they are only 5 for 32 off him with a 34% strikeout rate. GPP only.
Ivan Nova (7300) – Nova is super cheap and coming off 13, 23 and 32 DK point starts he has not allowed more than 1 ER in his last 3 starts.
PITCHERS TO CONSIDER: MAIN SLATE
ZAC GALLEN (9200) – Zac has 17 Ks in his last 14.0 innings and only allowed 2 ER in those starts. He put up a solid 24 DK points vs. MIN and crushed the hapless CHW for 35 DK points. Zac has a 2.72 ERA with a 11.1 K9 ratio and allowing a total of a .191 opponent batting average. Solid for cash or GPP.
JAMES PAXTON (9000) – Risk reward GPP play here. Coming off 22.5 DK points facing Boson. Paxton has a solid 15.7% strikeout rate. His road ERA is a whopping 5.83 but his xFIP indicates he has been unlucky and it should be closer to 3.68.
FADE of the Main Slate – Eduardo Rodriguez (10,000) – I know KC is terrible hitting .205 over the last week but we have seen them hand 8 runs on a solid pitcher. They have faced EROD for a total of 32 team Abs and guess what their BVP is??? They are hitting him at a .469 clip with a lower 22% K rate. Yes KC is terrible on the road with a wRC+ of 66.3 since July 1 and hitting .205 over the last week but they just beat BOS in BOS and they could sneak one in again tonight!
STACKS & PITCHERS TO TARGET AGAINST: BOTH SLATES
NYY vs. John Means (The LHP) – NYY crush LHP! Remember just last week when they blasted Chris Sale and David Price? Now they get John Means who isn’t even on that level. NYY have a wRC+ of 106.2 vs. RHP but vs. LHP they fly all the way up to 158! Their wOBA also jumps from .334 to .410, team batting average jumps from .263 up to .318 and OBP+ISO jumps from .527 (which is a solid number) to an eye popping .676! NYY aren’t even the most expensive stack tonight as the top 5 most expensive hitters will put you at a 4860 average. NYY are scoring 7.3 runs per game and hitting .305 as a team over the last week and rank #3 in our L10 game power rankings. Stack the fucking NYY!
PADRES – The top 4 hitters crush LHP with Tatis, Margot, Machado and Renfroe. All have a wRC+ vs. LHP of 150+. They are cheap because they are not lighting it up right now so like them as a contrarian mini-stack. Kikuchi has been getting bombed. He is giving up a .302 average to LHH and .286 vs. RHH.
CLEVELAND INDIANS – Both slates I like them wherever they fall. Right now they are around 4,300-4,400 per hitter average for a 5 man stack and that is awesome considering they rank 4th in our L10 game power rankings. CLE scoring 5.2 and hitting .277 over the L7 days. Word of caution they are worse at home with a wRC+ of only 95.2 vs. their 134 number on the road. TEX also has the 20th ranked bullpen.
SAN FRANCISCO – They rank a horrible 26th in our L10 game power rankings so this is GPP only. They are only scoring 3.1 runs per game and hitting .257 over the last week. However, Joe Ross has been terrible. He has an ERA of 8.10 with a 1.93 whip and allowing a .323 batting average. This stack is DIRT CHEAP! You can get the 5 highest priced hitters at a 3900 average, that is sick!
HOUSTON – Houston is always going to be in my write-up because they are so fun to watch. That lineup is rock solid top to bottom. They have a 148.5 wRC+ at home with a 42-15 record. They are scoring 7.3 runs per game and hitting .300 as a team over the last week and rank #1 in our L10 game power rankings. You can do a 5 man stack and average anywhere from 5,220 down to 4,620 per hitter. They are facing Lambert and the 28th ranked bullpen. Load them up!
MINNY – Okay one more then I have to get some stuff done for work. MINNY has a nice 133.8 wRC+ at home and they rank 8th in our L10 game power rankings scoring 6.9 runs per game and hitting .262 over the last week. You can range this 5 man stack anywhere from 5,040 per hitter down to 4,180. MIN also has a .630 OBP+ISO number vs. LHP and with a microscopic strikeout rate of only 16.7%. To give you a comparison they are at 22.2% vs. RHP. They are at a 25.3% strikeout rate on the road but at HOME where they are tonight baby they are only at a 17.0% strikeout rate. @ HOME and facing a LHP I’ll take some of that action!
