PITCHERS TO CONSIDER:
FAVORITE HIGH END: TREVOR BAUER (10900) – I don’t mind the price tag on him today as he if facing a terrible MIA team that is strikeout prone. Bauer has starts of 20, 27, 12, 32 and 30 DK points. MIA is striking out 28.3% of the time vs. RHP (highest on the slate). Should be as easy “Win” of Bauer.
HIGH END FADES: BLAKE SNELL & GERRIT COLE – First let’s look at Snell. KC is a tough cookie. The numbers tell you they are terrible vs. LHP but then they go out and crush a stud LHP. Snell just faced KC and got tagged for 5 hits, 2 ER and was pulled after only 3.1 innings. I’d rather spend $400 more and get to Bauer. I really like Cole and even just pulled off a trade to obtain him in one of my season long leagues. He has 28, 2.5 and 33 DK point starts in his last 3. Texas “running hot” tagged him for 9 hits and 8 ER in only 4.1 innings. Cole did manage 10, 8 and 11 Ks in his last 3 starts so he did have K upside. Facing MIN I consider this a tough opponent. They are “red hot” right now and only striking out 17.9% of the time to RHP and hold a team .271 batting average with a .355 wOBA. I prefer Cole over Snell but again would rather get to Bauer. These are just some warning signs to be cautious of.
MID PRICED GPP OPTION: GRIFFIN CANNING (7800) – Angels top pitching prospect making a big league debut. So far this year in AAA he has a 0.56 ERA with a 0.94 whip and 17/2 K/BB ratio. Facing a TOR team striking out 27.3% of the time vs. RHP could give him some success. GPP option.
GPP OPTION: JORDAN LYLES (7400) – He is coming off 4 ER in 5.0 vs. ARI but prior to that he went 3 starts and only allowed 1 ER across ALL THREE! He did manage to travel to CHC and go 6.0 innings with 10 Ks so he has upside.
GPP OPTION: FELIX HERNANDEZ (6800) – Don’t mind the play her as he is priced under the $7k mark. He is coming off a 27 DK point start @ SD where he went 7.0 innings with only 1 ER and 8 Ks. Tough matchup but just as Lyles hit them for 10 Ks Felix could be a decent pay down GPP target tonight.
GPP OPTION: ANDREW CASHNER (5500) – Ultimate punt pitcher for the night. He is coming off a 15.65 DK point start @ TB and managed just shy of 10 DK points @ BOS. CHW are good but not great and they are striking out 24.5% of the time. GPP punt option only!
TOP STACKS FOR TONIGHT:
ST.LOUIS vs. Anibal Sanchez – Anibal has given up 9 ER in his last 10.1 innings pitched. He gve up 3 ER to a weak MIA team in only 5.1 inning and managed to walk 4 batters. He also has 9 BB in his last 10.1 innings. There is a solid core of hitters with high wOBA’s vs. PH – Paul Goldschmidt (.415), DeJong (.403), Ozuna (.411). You can also squeeze in Kolten Wong only 4200 with a .366 wOBA as Sanchez has an xFIP to LHH of 7.24 with a .436 wOBA.
Also don't mind Texas - see screen shot.
HITTERS WE LIKE:
STUD: MIKE TROUT (5700) – BVP data is great as he is 8 for 19 (.421) with 2 HR vs. Buchy. Also has a .465 wOBA vs. RHP and a micro scopic 7.9% K rate.
JASON HEYWARD (4500) – He started off hot and then has went a little cold as of late but still a .406 wOBA vs. RHP and low 7.9% strikeout rate.
JOSH REDDICK (4200) – The very streaky Josh Reddick has a .384 wOBA vs. RHP and a low 9.2% strikeout rate.
ERIC SOGARD (4100) – 13.4 FPPG so far this year now batting leadoff. Ride the hot streak!
DANNY SANTANA (4500) – 11.4 FPPG and a .425 wOBA vs. RHP.
DIAMOND BACK COMBO – Christian Walker (4800) has a low 9.4% strikeout rate vs. LHP and that is much better than his 36.4% vs. RHP. Marte (4800) .400 wOBA vs. PH, 11.1% K rate and his ISO advantage vs. PH is .361 vs. only .171. Adam Jones (4500) has a .378 wOBA and a 12.2% K rate. Squeeze in Eduardo (4700) with a .450 wOBA but higher 21.4% K rate. His ISO jump is .300 vs. current PH and only .185 to the other side.
