NFL Week 1 Picks from CheatSheetPros!
Week 1 is only 4 sleeps away and we get a great Thursday night game to kick off the 2019 NFL Season! Let’s take a look at some Week 1 picks. Now keep in mind a lot of the stats and rankings are used from 2018 and some defenses improved.
RUNNING BACKS:
LEONARD FOURNETTE (6100) – Leonard Fournette could be an RB1 this year if he can stay healthy. The offensive line has struggled to stay healthy and right now they rank 22nd. They got lucky in the draft with tackle Jawaan Taylor, a projected top 10 pick, falling to them at pick 35. In 2017 they were ranked 5th when they were all healthy and then last year they fell to 31st after the big 3 missing a total of 26 games. Kansas City made some improvements on defense but how much can we expect them to improve? They finished last year 32nd vs. the run. With a total of 52 in this game Fournette is just too cheap!
DALVIN COOK (6000) – Another RB that can produce as an RB1 if he can stay healthy and so far this pre-season he looks great. ATL was 30th vs. the rush last year in their DVOA rankings and Minnesota has improved their offensive line with Garrett Bradbury.
KERRYON JOHNSON (5800) – Kerryon could be an every week lock for us until his price goes up. Matt Patricia is building up his offensive line and wants to run the ball. They paid Ricky Wagner $47.5 million over 5 years to come in and join 2018 and 2016 1st round picks Frank Ragnow and Taylor Decker and they loaded. T.J. Hockenson was a 2019 1st round pick and graded as a solid run blocking TE. If you want a punt play you could run with C.J. Anderson (3900) who may vulture a TD or two with this unit. I don’t think Kerryon Johnson will handle 100% of the RB snaps but he will be heavily involved in the passing game giving him a high ceiling.
CHRIS CARSON (5700) – Seattle wants to run the ball but they are not investing in their offensive line. Seattle paid Wilson $140 million and allowed 1 sack per 10 passing downs in 2018 and then out of their 11 draft picks they only took 1 offensive linemen which was a 4th rounder. Seattle ranks 24th in offensive line to start the 2019 season. Carson has looked great in pre-season and Cincy ranked 31st against pass catching RBs last year giving up 8.2 catches per game and 54.3 yards. Carson is cheap enough in DFS to take a shot on.
DEVIN SINGLETARY (3600) – Cheap punt play to use in cash games. He will likely be extremely high owned in GPPs so I wouldn’t use him in the milly maker. With the release of LeSean Mccoy (to the Chiefs) Devin Singletary becomes the feature RB in the Buffalo offense and he is near min priced on DK for a RB. Offensive line is still in question after adding 8 journeymen to mix and match.
OTHER PLAYS AT VARIOUS POSITIONS WE LIKE:
DEDE WESTBROOK (4800) – Kansas City gave up 10.8 targets per game and 80.6 yards to the WR1 of the opposing team. With a Vegas total of 52 and the heavy usage when saw in the pre-season DeDe could be a great value.
AMARI COOPER (7000) – Detroit ranked 32nd vs. WR1’s in 2018 and Cooper is the obvious #1.
ADAM THEILAND / DIGGS – ATL ranked 27th vs. the WR-1 last year and this game should be a shootout.
HUNTER HENRY (3900) – Indy ranked 29th vs. the TE last year and this has a game total of 48. Cheap value!
EVAN ENGRAM (4800) – NYG are hurting for targets so Engram should be a target monster to start the year. With a Vegas total of 46.5 and NYG will likely being playing catchup throwing the ball EE is a solid target to consider.
JACOBY BRISSETT (4400) – After Luck retired he because the cheap punt value at QB. At only $4.4k on DK you only need around 12-13 points to his 3x value and this allows you to load up elsewhere. He has a tough matchup vs. San Diego but a solid offensive line so let’s see what he can do!
